These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the “Meister Apps” digital services, available via the mobile app and our cloud-based web platform (together, the “Service”), provided by Anton Paar ConsumerTec GmbH (“Anton Paar”).
“Meister Apps” refers to: Brew Meister, Wine Meister, Proof Meister, Lab Meister, Reef Meister, Coffee Meister, and Pet Care Meister.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Service Description
1.1 The Service enables you to monitor your fermentation process and manage measurement data using digital devices like EasyDens and SmartRef. You can access the Service via the mobile app or the web interface, with features including storing and visualizing data, recipe creation, and fermentation tracking.
1.2 Subscriptions are only available via the mobile app. Subscription activation is only available via the mobile app and cannot be performed on the web version of the Service.
2. Free Version and Subscriptions
2.1 Anton Paar offers both free and paid services. Subscription pricing is shown in the mobile app and may vary by region depending on your billing information at the time of purchase.
2.2 Free version. You can use the Service free of charge until certain feature limitations are reached. Once either limit is reached, you can:
- Remain within the free limits and continue using the free version, or
- Subscribe via the mobile app to unlock extended access and features.
2.3 Subscriptions and Billing. Subscriptions to the Service are available exclusively through the mobile apps. You can choose a monthly or annual plan, both of which automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle to ensure uninterrupted access. When you subscribe, billing begins immediately, and charges will continue on each renewal date based on your selected plan. Applicable taxes may be added depending on your location. You may cancel at any time via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. No refunds or credits will be issued for amounts already billed, unless required by law. If your payment fails or your subscription is canceled, your account will revert to the free version of the Service. If we change pricing, we will give you advance notice, and the new rates will take effect in your next billing cycle. It is your responsibility to cancel before the renewal date if you do not wish your subscription to continue.
3. Trials
3.1 We may occasionally offer a free trial for new users. If you cancel before the trial ends, any remaining trial period will be forfeited. If you do not cancel, the paid subscription will automatically begin at the end of the trial at the then-current rate.
4. Right of Withdrawal and Express Waiver
4.1 If you are a consumer residing in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a legal right to withdraw from your subscription purchase within 14 days without giving any reason, in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.
4.2 By subscribing to the Service, you expressly agree that access to the Service will begin immediately upon confirmation of your purchase, and you acknowledge that you will lose your statutory right of withdrawal once the Service has started in full. This waiver is made in accordance with Article 16(m) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive.
4.3 If you do not wish to waive this right, please do not start using the Service until the withdrawal period has expired.
5. User Account
5.1 You may use the Service with or without a registered user account. A registered account provides access to both the mobile and web platforms. If you register, you must provide accurate, current information and keep your credentials secure. Your account is intended for personal use only and must not be shared with others.
5.2 You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
5.3 You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to or misuse of your account.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 The Service, including all features, designs, and content, is owned by Anton Paar or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. We reserve all rights not explicitly granted under these Terms. We also welcome feedback, but we may use it freely without obligation to you.
6.2 You represent that any content you upload does not infringe on third-party rights.
7. Acceptable Use & User Conduct
7.1 You may not:
- Circumvent security features.
- Access or tamper with data not intended for you.
- Use the Service in a way that violates laws or harms others.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code.
- Misuse referrals, promotions, or billing policies.
- Harass or abuse Anton Paar personnel or other users.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
- Upload harmful, illegal, or offensive content.
- Violate privacy, intellectual property, or advertising laws.
7.2 You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age in your country) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet the minimum age requirement.
8. Cookies & Analytics
8.1 The web version of the Meister Apps uses only a technically necessary session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential and does not require consent.
8.2 We collect non-anonymized analytics data (e.g., crash reports, usage patterns) for up to 30 days to help us improve the Service. After this period, the data is deleted. See our Privacy Policy for more details. We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral tracking.
9. Changes to the Service
9.1 We may update or discontinue features and functionalities at any time. Where possible, we will notify you in advance and give you time to download or export your content.
10. Responsibility for Use and Interpretation of Results
10.1 The Service is designed to assist users in tracking measurement data, fermentation tracking, and organizing measurements from EasyDens, SmartRef, and other devices. However, all measurement results, batch information, and recipes are provided for informational purposes only.
10.2 Anton Paar makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any measurement interpretation, batch setup, or recipe content generated or entered in the Service.
10.3 You are solely responsible for interpreting and using the data provided by the Service. Any decisions, adjustments, or actions you take based on the Service are your own responsibility and risk.
10.4 Anton Paar does not accept any liability for:
- Incorrect or undesired fermentation outcomes,
- Misinterpretation of measurement values or graphs, or
- Errors in recipe formulation or batch tracking.
10.5 Always verify results and seek additional sources or professional advice when necessary.
11. Warranty Disclaimer
11.1 The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy of results.
11.2 We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free operation.
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 To the extent permitted by law, Anton Paar is not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential damages,
- Loss of data, profits, or opportunities, or
- Any amount exceeding fees paid in the last 12 months.
12.2 These limitations apply even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
12.3 This clause does not affect liability in cases of gross negligence, intent, or mandatory statutory liability (e.g., under product liability law).
13. Termination
13.1 These Terms apply from your first use of the Service and continue until your subscription expires or is canceled, or your account is deleted or terminated by you or us.
13.2 Anton Paar may suspend or delete your account at any time for violations of these Terms. Where possible, we will notify you before termination. If your account is terminated: (a) you will lose access to your data; (b) no refund will be issued unless required by law; and (c) you may export your data before termination where technically possible.
14. Governing Law
14.1 These Terms are governed by Austrian law, except where consumer protection laws in your country take precedence.
