Privacy Policy of Meister Apps

The protection of your personal data is of particular concern to us. Therefore, we process your personal data only on the basis of the applicable data protection laws (like the EU General Data Protection Regulation, “GDPR“). We take careful precautions to protect your data from loss, manipulation, and unauthorized access. The precautions are in accordance with the current state of technology. This privacy policy explains how we process personal and anonymous data when you use our mobile applications.

1. Personal information

By default, we do not hold personal information that would allow us to identify users of our apps.

In case of in-app purchases or purchases of our apps in Google Play Store, we receive personal information about the purchase from Google. If you create an in-app user account (“User Account”), your account data may include personal data such as your email address and name.

For the processing of personal data within a User Account please refer to Clause 5 of this Privacy Policy.

2. Anonymous usage statistics

We do hold aggregated (anonymous) usage statistics of our apps, such as device country, device language, vendor of device, version of operating system, name and version of used app. The information thereby obtained is used to improve and optimize our apps to the need of users in general.

This data does not allow us to identify individual users and is processed exclusively for technical optimization and service improvement.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Contacting us

You can contact us on our website by contact form or live chat or via email. In such cases, we process your data to respond to your inquiry, and the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further details can be found in the General Privacy Policy on our website.

4. Location Data (Lab Meister and Wine Meister)

The apps Lab Meister and Wine Meister provide the option to save GPS information together with the measurement results. This feature is optional and intended to enhance the usefulness of the recorded data.

We do not track your device location while you are not using the Services.

If you would like to stop the device location tracking, you may do so at any time by adjusting your device settings.

5. Use of Third Party Tools

Google Play Store

Our apps are available on PlayStore, a product of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google provides us with anonymized, aggregated data such as country, language, device name, OS version, and app version. We may also receive personal information in the context of purchases or subscriptions.

Apple App Store

Our apps are available on Apple App Store, a product of Apple Inc., 1 Apple Park Way, Cupertino, California, USA, 95014. Apple supplies us with anonymized, aggregated data (country, language, OS version, etc.). No personal data is shared with us.

Google Firebase

We use Google Firebase (Google LLC) for crash reports and telemetry. Google Firebase supplies us with anonymized, aggregated data (country, language, OS version, etc.). No personal data is shared with us. All data collected via Firebase is anonymized and used solely to identify malfunctions and improve performance.

Google Service

The authentication of your User Account data is done via Google Service, a product of Google Inc. Your account data will be processed via Google’s authentication servers in the EU. We do not store your Google password or login credentials.

Facebook Analytics

We use Facebook Analytics (Meta Platforms, Inc., USA) to analyze campaign performance. We do not send personal data to Facebook; however, if you are logged into Facebook while using the app, they may be able to associate usage data with your profile.

Microsoft Azure

If you create a User Account, your personal data in User Account including your measurement data is processed and stored within the Microsoft Azure cloud with servers based in the EU.

Microsoft Azure Front Door

We use Azure Front Door for Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Web Application Firewall. Both services allow us to provide you with faster and safer content. We also apply additional features for data protection and do not process your IP address during the usage of these services.

Microsoft Azure Monitor

We use Azure Monitor – Application Insights for crash reports and telemetry. Azure supplies us with anonymized, aggregated data (country, language, OS version, etc.). No personal data is shared with us. All data collected via Application Insights is anonymized and used solely to identify malfunctions and improve performance, and deleted after 90 days.

6. User Accounts

The creation of the User Account is optional. You can create the User Account by providing us with your e-mail, password, name and/or picture. The User Account is linked to a non-identifiable User UID of your device for back-up and synchronization of your measurement data. Your personal user data is not visible to other users and is shared only with our data processors for the provision of this service.

7. Interest-based cross-application advertising and tracking

If you would like to opt out of cross-application advertising and tracking, please change the settings in your mobile operating system accordingly (“Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS and “Opt out of interest-based ads” on Android).

8. Passing on of data

Data is processed for legal requirements, fulfillment of contracts, customer inquiries, trade fairs, seminars, training measures, and business operations within the Anton Paar Group. Associated companies and contract partners use transmitted data only for the defined purpose and may not use it otherwise.

9. Your rights

You have the right to information, right of access, right to rectification, right to erasure, right to restriction of processing, right to data portability, and right to object.
